Transport Links

Hampshire is easily accessible from the UK and beyond.

By Road
Hampshire has excellent connections to the national road network.
Reach London and surrounds in one to two hours via the M3 or A3. Use the A303, A31, or A36 for the West Country. For the Midlands and Wales access the M4 and M40 via the A34. Both Cardiff and Birmingham can be reached in around two hours.

By Rail
Hampshire benefits from an excellent rail network linking its cities to other towns and cities in the UK, and linking smaller towns and villages to larger transport hubs. For example, it takes just over an hour to reach London Waterloo from Winchester, Bristol is just one hour and forty minutes from Southampton, and Basingstoke to Birmingham takes only two hours.

By Air
Hampshire is home to Southampton Airport which enjoys excellent links to major business destinations within Europe. Bournemouth Airport is located just over the county border in Dorset, offering even more European flights.

Private charters can be arranged at Farnborough Airport, and the major hubs of Heathrow and Gatwick are between one to two hours away.

By Sea
Portsmouth offers ferry services to France and Spain. The Isle of Wight is within 25 minutes of both Southampton and Portsmouth.

Hampshire is also home to many harbours for the mooring and chartering of private boats.
