Things to do

Hampshire is a large county with a diverse range of landscapes from coastal lowlands through ancient forest to the rolling hills of the South Downs. Get out and about by foot, bike, horseback or even segway and lose yourself in the serene scenery. Anglers are also well catered for with fisherman travelling from all over the world to fish for trout in the clear chalk streams of the River Itchen and River Test.

History buffs will be spoilt for choice. Explore Silchester Roman City Walls and Amphitheatre, or be fascinated by life aboard war ships such as the HMS Victory at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. Visit world famous Winchester Cathedral, then stroll up the hill to see the Great Hall and King Arthur’s fabled Round Table.

For the adventurous, or those looking for a challenge there’s plenty on offer. Go Ape have no fewer than two high ropes courses in the county, and there are a number of centres offering Canoeing, windsurfing, rock climbing and falconry. Even petrolheads won’t be disappointed with a variety of experiences on offer at the world famous Thruxton circuit.
